What is going on out side of school hours?
Briarlake Elementary is part of an active, engaged community. This is reflected in our wide range of extra-curricular programs available for our students. As the school year progresses and the community develops, the listing of clubs may change.
Afterschool Math Club
Briarlake students will attend county and state-level math competitions
Effective September 2018 we will have two clubs, Garden Club & Recycling Club
Club sponsor is a certified Master Gardener on staff at Briarlake
Open to 3rd and 4th graders
Maintain recycling bins & dumpster
Fill bird feeders, bird baths, & maintain the gardens
Participate in Farm to Table using food from the school gardens
Maintain the outdoor classroom
Special activities related to gardening, recycling, the environment
Jr. Beta Club
Serve as ambassadors on Career Day
Promote safety during morning and afternoon carpool
Our orchestra practices every day after school
Our band practices Monday-Thursday after school
Students in grades 3-5 will learn ASL and Deaf culture
Students will be emersed in a "voice off" environment
Students will have the opportunity to be paired with a deaf or hard of hearing peer for continued ASL support
The signing squad promotes the inclusion of both hearing and deaf students
Students will be working with ASL interpreters and teachers of the deaf
Students in grades K-2 learn American Sign Language
The Signing Club performs at the PTA's volunteer appreciation night each year
Briarlake Staff members support the Track Club
Track Club partners with The Atlanta Track Club and the Kilometer Kids. They provide shirts, water bottles, sunglasses, and medals.
Briarlake's Healthy Habits 5K and Fun Run is a partnership between Track Club and PTA and is in it's 9th year. 2016 was our largest 5K with 200+ participants.
Track Club members participate in the Peachtree Jr. 3K and in the CHOA 2K.
Briarlake's Track Club has been selected to cheer for the Atlanta 10-Miler and has received large donations for their cheering efforts.
