Dear Interested 4th Grade Students and Parents,
Serving as a Briarlake Safety Patrol is a big commitment. Only a few candidates will be selected to serve as patrols. These students should have exemplary behavior. They also must have a completed application packet on file, in addition to exceeding the minimum grade requirements set to become a safety patrol. Each child will be expected to be responsible, dependable, and self-motivated.
The patrol’s job is to remind students of safety rules and procedures at Briarlake Elementary School. Some of the duties are as follows:
Set a good example and encourage other students to observe safety and school rules at all times.Report Time for Morning duty: 7:15 AM to 7:45 AMReport Time for Afternoon duty: 2:10 to 2:45 PM Report to duty on time with proper equipment. Patrols will not be permitted to perform their duties if they are not wearing a patrol belt.Report to the patrol sponsors, administrators, or any staff member on duty by their post of any difficulties. Students are expected to remind students of proper procedures, not enforce them.School Safety Patrol is an honored position. To ensure students maintain the high standards of the program, students can temporarily be removed from patrols for failing schoolwork, classroom discipline, school bus discipline, tardiness to duty, unexcused absences from duty, etc. Multiple or serious incidents may result in being permanently removed from the patrol. If disciplinary action is necessary, your full cooperation will be appreciated. If necessary, a letter may be sent to the patrol’s parents explaining the suspension and the reason for taking the action.
